BENEFITS OF A CUSTOM ENGINEERED SOLUTION
Constructability
We custom design for constructability according to client or project specific requirements, considering logistics, resource availability, schedule and cost.
Modularisation
Our modular designs offer a quicker, safer and more cost-effective process, using larger fabricated pieces and pre-assembled modules to minimize cost and schedule risk.
Global Experience
Our multidisciplinary technical support team have decades of field experience, heralding from major projects with expertise in installation, commissioning and operation.
Expertise
Our team combines original equipment manufacturer (OEM) knowledge and real-world operating experience to support and train operators and maintenance personnel.
End-To-End Service
Our team manages the entire process – from engineering and design to project management, construction, installation and commissioning.
Early Engagement
Early contractor engagement and a collaborative design process to achieve system optimization, operability, maintainability and client objectives.
On Time, Every Time
If schedules slip then costs blow out. We monitor engineering resources and mitigate risks on long lead item procurement during design phases to ensure schedules are not impacted.
STATE OF THE ART TECHNOLOGY
Our technical experts conduct comprehensive design, analysis and modelling using the latest engineering tools to ensure each system is tailored to our customers’ exact requirements.
This includes:
- Static and dynamic conveyor analysis
- Discrete Element Method (DEM) material flow analysis
- 2D and 3D design
- 3D steel detailing
- 3D mechanical and civil design
- Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
- Specialist stacking plan development
- 3D structural analysis and design
- 3D plant design and visualisation
- EPLAN electrical and controls design software
SAFETY IN DESIGN
The easiest and most cost-effective way to reduce risks associated with the manufacture, delivery, installation, operation and maintenance of any materials handling system is to “engineer them out”. Our expert team has decades of combined experience and work to incorporate key safety features during all phases of project execution, ensuring all of our equipment meets the highest standards.
OUR ENGINEERING SPECIALTIES
-
Mechanical
We perform all mechanical engineering for the design of our materials handling solutions. All our equipment is designed using the latest computer software technology providing accurate calculations of key design parameters such as power and tension for all loading conditions, to ensure optimal selection of mechanical components.
Our specialties also include bin and hopper design, as well as mobile machine design for our mobile stacking equipment including associated hydraulics, driven wheel assemblies, crawler tracks and associated equipment propulsion systems.
We also use state of the art design technology for dynamic analysis of high capacity overland and underground conveyors with complex curve requirements.
-
Electrical & Automation
Our team of experienced electrical and automation engineers are equipped to provide unique turn-key electrical and automation solutions.
With a dedicated UL certified panel shop located within our Santee (United States) facility, we have in-house capabilities for the design, assembly and testing of custom industrial electrical and controls equipment. This vertically integrated process provides TNT with a unique flexibility to deliver custom solutions within tight project schedules.
The same engineering team that performs the factory acceptance testing is typically deployed to site to commission the system. This provides continuity of the electrical and automation system from inception through to operation.
-
Structural
Mining materials handling projects usually involve complex elevated conveyors and transfer structures, often with extreme climatic conditions and in high seismic regions. We use finite element analysis technology to analyse critical structures, ensuring the structural integrity to withstand the project conditions and environment.
Mobile conveyors and stacking equipment require additional dynamic loading imparted to equipment and structures that must be carefully considered for long term reliability. For our Super Portable conveyors, we employ sophisticated computer modelling to ensure optimum performance under challenging conditions.
-
Cold Climate
Cold climate conveyors are designed for low temperature operation in accordance with industry best practice and CEMA guidelines. Our engineering team has extensive experience designing conveyors for arctic and cold climate conditions as low as -50°C, including projects in Canada (British Columbia, Northwest Territories, Alberta, Ontario), Alaska and Russia.
Our cold climate conveyer and mobile stacking equipment engineering expertise includes:
- Using appropriate design factors in conveyor power and tension calculations to accommodate increased frictional resistances caused by cold temperatures in bearings and lubricants.
- Dynamic analysis, including the effects of temperature range on conveyor operation during start-up, shutdown, emergency stop and other transient conditions
- Designs using certified low temperature grade structural steel for structures with high impact or fatigue loads such as pulley frames, drive structures and take-up structures
- Specialist design, selection and development of crawlers, wheel assemblies, tires, hydraulic requirements for all propriety mobile conveying and stacking equipment to ensure reliable start up and operation in ice and snow.
- Working closely with, and assisting select vendors, to ensure all supplied components, lubricants and installed equipment meet the specialized requirements necessary to operate in extreme Arctic conditions.
